Dorotha Marie Stanton, 1927-2010

  Dorotha Marie Stanton, daughter of Elmer Herman and Nettie (Crouch) Stoner, was born near Jerome, Iowa on May 24, 1927 and passed away at The Continental Care Center in Seymour, Iowa on March 10, 2010 at the age of 82 years, 9 months, and 15 days.
  Marie was united in marriage to Roy James “Jim” Stanton on July 14, 1945. Two children, Larry and Marlene, were born to this union.
  Marie was a life long resident of the Seymour area and was a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, and the Seymour American Legion Auxiliary. For many years she worked as a bookkeeper at the local Seymour State Bank, which later became the US Bank.
  Marie’s greatest joy was her family. She and Jim supported their children and grandchildren in all their activities. Larry and Marlene’s friends were always welcomed at the Stanton home and many considered Marie and Jim their family. Marie was especially proud of her grandchildren and was always excited about their accomplishments.
  Marie was preceded in death by her parents and sister Vera Stoner.
  Survivors include her husband Jim, son Larry and wife Mary of Mt. Vernon, daughter Marlene Sprouse and husband Steve of Ottumwa, grandchildren Beau Sprouse and wife Darcie of Des Moines, Lucas Stanton of Mt. Vernon, Caitlin Wyman and husband Curt of Springville, sister Blanche Horne of Casa Grande, Arizona, niece Connie Lucas and husband Steve of Maricopa, Arizona and a host of friends.
