Obituary: Georgia Young Cooper Macumber

  Georgia Cooper Macumber, age 93, a resident of Plano from 1949 to 1998, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the Golden Age Care Center, Centerville.
  Georgia was born, Oct. 13, 1913, the daughter of William and Ollie (Cousins) Young near Moulton. She attended school at Sedan and graduated from Moulton High School.
  She married Chester Cooper on Oct. 13, 1934 in Milan, Mo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1983.
  She was a graduate of the Centerville Community College of Practical Nurses and worked at the Golden Age Manor for 10 years as a nurse. She retired to care for her husband.
  She married Guy Macumber on March 25, 1989. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1996.
  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jerome, the Humane Society, the National Wildlife Federation, Eastern Star of Lancaster, Mo., and the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses.
  Georgia is survived by nieces, Olive (Rollie) Hand of Centerville and Vicky (Fred) Malin of Des Moines; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Chester and Guy; parents, William and Ollie; brothers, Clarence and Vernett Charles (Jess) Young; sisters, Helen Fox, Naomi Troxel, Faye Young, and Romaine Butkovich.
  Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Richard Gorden officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. A visitation will be held Friday at the funeral home with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
  A memorial has been established to the First United Methodist Church of Jerome and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
